Dr Tom Milton’s veterinary journey has taken him from mixed practice to small animal work in clinic and finally to in-home veterinary care and a passion for offering and promoting peaceful home euthanasia for pets.
His own work locally in this area inspired him to set up The Kindest Goodbye, a national network of equally dedicated vets offering this wonderful service to families and their beloved pets across Australia.
FOUNDER
Putting your pet to sleep in the comfort of home, with loved ones by their side and away from the stress of the vet clinic is the kindest goodbye you can give your beloved friend.
As a team of pet lovers, we understand what it’s like to love and lose your pet. We believe that your pet’s end-of-life journey should be just as caring, loving and unique as they are.
Saying goodbye to a family member is one of the hardest thing to do, and Dr Rachael Moon is passionate about allowing families to say goodbye to their furry family member in the peace and familiarity of their own home, surrounded by the comfort of the ones they love the most.
Dr Rachael is an extremely experienced veterinarian with 12 years of experience. She has worked in both mixed animal practice and private small animal practice with most of that time on beautiful Bribie island, where she fell in love with the close one-on-one care that a comes from working in such a tight community.
Seeing firsthand the stress that some animals felt in a veterinary clinic, she felt passionately about starting a full service mobile clinic. This has been running for 4 years, with over 1,500 patients helped.
Recently, Dr Moon has dedicated more of her time to her property, where she has her 3 dogs, 2 cats, lots of the cutest sheep in the world (Valais Blacknose) and miniature highland cattle. This has allowed her the time to assist more families say farewell at home through The Kindest Goodbye.
Dr Rachael is available in the Brisbane, Gold Coast and Ipswich areas.
Monica graduated from University of Queensland in Veterinary Science over 30 years ago and worked initially in mixed practice followed by working as a small animal veterinarian.
After discovering the joys of motherhood, Monica had a long career break while raising a large family of 6 sons and 1 daughter.
When her youngest child had settled into school, Monica returned to practising as a veterinarian and loves the variety her career provides from working in the sheep health field with farmers and offering home euthanasia for pets.
As pets are much beloved members of the family, Monica believes that when the time has come to say goodbye, being able to facilitate this in a pet’s own home is the most comforting way to ensure grace and dignity for both pet owners and their pets.
Dr Kym graduated from Murdoch University in 1998 and began her veterinary career in mixed practice but has been working in small animal practice since beginning a family. She has been a passionate animal lover her whole life and has never been without at least one furry family member in her home, oftentimes outnumbering the human kids! Her current dog is a very determined Miniature Dachshund who is always looking for cuddles, treats or something to bark at.
Kym is passionate about ensuring that all her patients have the best quality of life possible. She takes great comfort in being able to ease her patients suffering in the most gentle way possible when the time comes to say goodbye and providing emotional support to the family members at such a difficult time. She particularly loves working for The Kindest Goodbye, allowing these precious furry friends to be put to sleep in their own comfortable surroundings rather than the stress of a clinic, and so their family are able to go through such a sad occasion in the privacy of their home.
After graduating in 2013 from Sydney University, Lauren began practising as a small animal veterinarian in a little clinic in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne where she grew up. She instantly loved her job and enjoyed building relationships with her clients and patients, a number of which she cared for from their puppyhood into their geriatric years. Although she found this deeply rewarding, clinical practice was busy, and it was often difficult to facilitate home visits around a busy practice schedule, particularly as the sole vet on duty. Despite the desperate need for home visits for pets and owners alike, there were times she simply couldn’t be there, and on more than one occasion it broke her heart to have to say no.
This inspired her journey to become a home visiting veterinarian. She feels very privileged to be able to allow pets and their families to say goodbye in their own way and in the most peaceful way possible.

He has since practised veterinary medicine and surgery in both general practice and emergency before finding that his kind and compassionate nature could help pet owners through their difficult times.

They absolutely love the people, freedom, nature and quality of life here.
Between 2009-2020 Henriette worked in multiple mainly small animal clinics, and gained a lot of experience over a very broad range of conditions. In 2020, while still working part time in a very busy small animal hospital, she decided to start her own business, focusing mainly on home-based end-of-life care of pets. She soon discovered that doing this well, with care, respect, compassion and with the comforts of home, makes such a big difference to pets and their families, and is now focusing just on this full time.
